When you arrive at your appointment, you will meet one-on-one with a compassionate Patient Consultant and a Registered Nurse, who will listen to you and share personalized support as you navigate your next steps.

Frequently asked questions

  • It is possible for a pregnancy test to be positive 7-10 days after intercourse. The best time to do a pregnancy test is when you miss a period or one to two weeks after having intercourse. To improve sensitivity, take the test first thing in the morning as soon as you wake up, as hCG levels will be the most concentrated in your urine. (Positive Test and Next Steps?)

  • Most pharmacies and grocery stores sell urine pregnancy tests. Many doctor's offices and laboratories also offer testing options, although some require appointments.

    If you think you may be pregnant, we offer free, laboratory-grade hCG pregnancy tests, which can provide results within three to five minutes.

  • We provide urine hCG pregnancy tests in our Salt Lake and American Fork locations. Reach out to determine when to come in for a test.

    Our Patient Consultants and Registered Nurses are available to discuss and process your results. Our team can walk you through decision-making tools to help you navigate your options and provide you with resources to make your decision.

    If you have a positive test, an ultrasound is needed to know if your pregnancy is viable. Our nurses are trained in limited ultrasounds to confirm viability and dating.

  • Urine home pregnancy tests are about 99% accurate and blood tests are even more accurate. A home test’s accuracy depends on:

    • How closely you follow the instructions

    • When you ovulated and how soon the fertilized egg implants

    • How soon after ovulation you take the test

    • The sensitivity of the pregnancy test

    If you took a pregnancy test at home and are still unsure about the results, it's best to retake a pregnancy test in 2-3 days, and first thing in the morning.

  • Pregnancy tests are designed to detect a very specific hormone. This hormone, called human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), is found in a woman’s urine or bloodstream when the body recognizes a fertilized egg is present. This typically corresponds to the time when a fertilized egg fastens itself to the uterus wall (implantation).

  • We know this can feel overwhelming and confusing.

    Meeting with a patient consultant or nurse, a non-judgmental third party, can help. Their purpose is to listen to your thoughts and concerns and give you the tools to fully process your decision.
